TO MR. PAILLOTET – 7

Remind my advice to de Fontenay, my pressing invitation I should say, to get his Capital printed.

Frédéric Bastiat
Complete Works, Volume 7, pages 442 to 443 (in French)
September 14th, 1850

I cannot find the trail to this Capital by Roger de Fontenay that Frédéric Bastiat would have liked to see in print.

This is a pity because it must have been more interesting than the famous Capital by Karl Marx published later in 1867, which is a real pain to read (and for most of us, not really interesting) or that of Thomas Piketty published in the 21st century, which I have not even attempted to start reading given the credible criticisms explaining how it is full of fundamental errors, making it perfectly dispensable to read.

The recommendation sent by Frédéric Bastiat that constitutes today’s quote was sent from Lyon during his last trip to Italy (he is buried in Rome).
