TO MR. PAILLOTET – 5

Sometimes, the most successful is what we counted the least upon.

Here is another very short note. Frédéric Bastiat expresses the pleasure he can find through the intellectual exchanges he has, here with Michel Chevalier.

The letter is accompanying a printed version of The Law, which does not satisfy him completely but for which his premonition will prove accurate – if he finds the text “too serious for a pamphlet”, the future will reveal its importance within the works of Frédéric Bastiat. Today’s quote shows some universal wisdom, that of accepting that men do not have the upper hand on everything, even on something as intimate as the transmission of our thoughts in the written format.
